Description: A proteinaceous inhibitor to rubber biosynthesis,purified from the freeze-dried C-serum of Hevea brasiliensis,which was determined to be homologous to patatin from potato,was immunolocalised in Hevea tissue by electron microscopy.Indirect labelling with the antibodies raised against the inhibitor followed by colloidal gold goat-anti-rabbit IgG showed specific labelling in the latex vessels only.Gold particles were found concentrated in certain areas of the cytoplasm of the latex vessel and not on the paniculate contents of the latex.Since this protein was shown to have some role in rubber biosynthesis, its immunolocalisation on the tissue should throw some light as to the location of rubber biosynthesis.
